WALT write a character description of a person we know very well.
We know we have achieved this when we …
-
have written about the person’s
physical appearance (the way they look).
-
have written about the person’s
behaviour (how they speak or act).
-
have written about how they
affect other people (what do they do to make you notice them).
-
have written about the person’s
environment and belongings.
-
used descriptive words to make
a picture in the mind of the reader
My granny is old
and has wrinkles. She always has a smile on her face and also wears red
lipstick. She always wears bright colours and a hat with a feather. Her hair is
about the colour of sheep’s wool. My granny loves visitors, especially me. When
she goes out she always wears her earrings. My granny has a two-storey house
and lives with her son Kevin. She has a kind heart. My granny lives on a hill
and near the beach. My granny wears a dress that goes with her feather and
shoes. My granny has a small garden that has a path in the middle and plants
around the outside. It also has a bird feeder. She has blue eyes like the
colour of water. I have the best granny.
You have used some good similes and some
adjectives in your description to create that picture about your granny but I
still need to know a little more about what she looks like.
1.
Try to organise your
description into paragraphs – what she physically looks like, about her personality/behaviour,
and about her environment/belongings.
2.
Try to start as many sentences
with different words as you can.
